The
European Equity Fund(NYSE: EEA), The New Germany Fund
(NYSE: GF) and The Central Europe and Russia Fund (NYSE: CEE) offer investors potential value and international diversification. All three Funds are listed on the New York Stock Exchange and are managed by the Deutsche Bank Group.
The European Equity Fund, Inc. is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Fund seeks long term
capital appreciation through investment primarily (normally at least 80% of its assets) in equity and equity linked securities of
companies domiciled in countries utilizing the Euro currency. The Fund may also invest up to 20% of its assets in securities of
issuers domiciled in European countries that do not use the Euro currency. Its benchmark is the MSCI-EMU Index, which is an unmanaged
capitalization-weighted index.
The New Germany Fund invests primarily in the Mittelstand - an important group of small and mid-cap German companies. Its benchmark is now the new Midcap Market Performance Index, calculated by the Deutsche Börse. It may invest up to 35% of its assets in large-cap. German companies, and up to 20% in other Western European companies.
The Central Europe and Russia Fund primarily invests in Central European and Russian equities. Its benchmark is comprised of 45% CECE (Central Europe), 45% RTX (Russia), and 10% ISE National 30 (Turkey) effective April 1, 2004. It offers value and growth to investors seeking exposure to these markets that have lower price-to-earnings' than the developed markets.
These funds are not diversified and may focus their investments in certain geographical regions, thereby increasing their vulnerability to developments in that region. Investing in foreign securities presents certain unique risks not associated with domestic investments, such as currency fluctuation and political and economic changes and market risks. This may result in greater share price volatility.
